I had an appointment today and after my examination they gave me the green light to be induced next Tuesday. Eeek!! I'm not decided that thats what we want to do, but it does thrill me to think of seeing this baby so soon (and not being prego anymore). My old wardrobe is all the sudden looking very appealing to me. This probably seems crazy to some, but a lot of the thrill of having a new baby to me at least, is that moment when you're FINALLY feeling your contractions consistently for the first time and knowing that the baby is on its way!!! I like the anticipation and excitement of the surprise. If I'm induced, there will be no surprises in that department, but hey there's always a good chance that our little girl will end up being a boy so we'll be surprised that way. :)
I'm also nervous about being induced because it just seems better to let nature take its course --I don't like intervening, but its been comforting that everyone I've talked to whose been induced has been successfully induced (meaning no c-section). I'd love to hear your thoughts on the subject. :)

Emily- I was induced 3 days late and I had NO feelings of contractions whatsoever up till then although I was having them. They put me on Pitocin at 8:30 a.m. and I labored all through the morning and afternoon until I finally hit a 4 about 5ish. I wasn't in pain but it was just uncomfortable. I then received the epidural (best thing ever) and I became fully dilated within an hour or two. They broke my water sometime around then too, I can't remember. They didn't want me to start pushing immediately so I just rested. Once I did start pushing I didn't feel a thing and pushed for a total of maybe 25 minutes and about 10:50 that night she was out! I had a wonderful experience really. Everyone is different though, hope that semi helps!
Good Luck for whatever situation happens!! Try to relax and enjoy the moment!! :-)
Well, Emily, I was induced with one and natural with the other. Everyone I talked to said that they would much rather not be induced, but honestly, I didn't notice any difference except for the fact that the second one (which went naturally) went a whole lot faster. I heard that contractions with inductions were a lot worse then just going into labor, but I don't believe it. I think that they are about the same. Hope all goes well, and don't worry about being induced, it's just fine. :)
They set up inducement dates with Jordan and Bryant and I ended up going into labor before I was to be induced with both. :o) In some ways it was nice to have the date set so we could arrange babysitters and everything, even though they came early anyway!
I was induced with my first two. It was a long hard labor with Sydnee because my contractions were tripling (3 on top of each other with no brake.) BUT it was too early (I had to be induced because of preeclampsia) and it was my first baby. My second induction wasn't near as bad, and both were without meds., so it is definitely do-able. So I would say do it!...especially if you know the baby is big enough. Why wait? :)
Good luck with whatever you decide.
I was induced with both Hailey and Kennedy (I wanted to go naturally with both, but that just wasn't an option because of my health). I had no problems and I wouldn't hesitate being induced with all of my other pregnancies. My labors with both were short, the contractions didn't seem bad to me (at least not any worse than what I imagine it would be if I started on my own). I think you will be just fine being induced. I know some people are against it, but I'm definitely not! Good luck no matter what!
I wished that I had and epidural when I was induced with Erin. You are going to have an epidural anyway aren't you?
Emily, do what you feel you need to do. That being said, I knew I would get induced from day one. My induction was awesome, went in at midnight and started antibiotics and cervadil, my dr. was running late so they broke my water at 11:50am and Kenley was born at 3:02 so short and sweet for me. Good luck and I'm excited for you.
You'll do great, Emily! That is so exciting! I was induced with my first--drugs and the whole bit. With Bubba, I had Esther break my water, no pitocin or anything, but both labors were the same and I am a BIG fan of induction--you know me, though...GET THAT BABY HERE! :-) I was induced with Spunky at 8:30 am and she got here at 11:50 am. With Bubba, my water broke at 6:00 am and he was here at 9:30 am...love inductions! Whatever you decide, just let me know if you need anything! Congrats!
Emily! What a fun and exciting time in your family life! I am like you- I love the anticipation and feelings around the time of having your baby. There's nothing like it!
For some reason, women sometimes think that if they don't let things happen just "naturally" when having a baby, that they are hurting the baby in some way or are less of a woman for having help with it. I say yeah right to that! A lot of freakin' women died during labor from letting everything just happen naturally too!
Remember your Dr is NOT going to allow you to be induced unless your baby and body are showing that signs that they are ready to do it. You aren't in any danger of complications with a healthy induction any more than a "naturally" induced labor. She (or he) is a healthy baby, and will just fine either way.
I was induced a week early with Alyssa and loved loved loved it! I was scheduled for another induction with Isabella a week early, but she came two days before the induction on her own. That labor was a lot more frantic and fast and furious. I didn't feel like I had any control over anything that time. (which I hated) But, everything was fine with that labor too. Whenever I have another, I will still choose to have induction if I am able to. Although the baby tends to come whenever they feel they are ready to. :) Take Care! I can't wait to see pictures of your sweet baby.
I can't wait to see pics of the first Asay girl yeah!!
Good luck I am sure everything will be fine.
Good luck emily! I know things will go wonderful for you!! I was induced with my first one, and it wasn't bad either! it's kinda nice knowing exactly when they are coming, my other two I wasn't, every labor is different, You'll do just fine, and I can't wait to hear the news and see pictures!! Good luck in everything!!!
