Michael and pink

We got up extra early this morning so we could walk to church and on the way home I had to run with Stetson ahead of Michael & girls because he needed to go potty BAD.  After I took care of Stetson and looked back, I knew I'd seen one of the most precious things ever-- my rough & tough hunk of a husband surrounded in pink.  I LOVE it.

date with Stetson

Today was an exciting day for Stetson!!  He got to take a tour of the kindergarten with his preschool class and I even got to go.  It was fun to see him interact with the kidd--he just jumped right in on all the action and seemed to have a lot of fun.  Later that evening was his first EVER t-ball practice!  It was so fun to watch him out there "practicing" with his teammates.  Fun times ahead!!  Lastly, I thought it was a good time for a mother/son date.  Stetson got a birthday coupon for an icecream cone from VIP way back in December and we finally used it!! He chose chocolate right away, no hesitation there (reminds me of my gma Foulger) and we went out on the padio and I took pictures of him and visited with him while he ate his icecream cone.  Just me and him.  I love you Stetson Simmons Asay!! :) xoxox --mom

catch-up

There is so much to say I'm not sure where to begin! For starters, Michael got a new pickup!!  He's ben wanting one for a long time but I was dragging my feet but he's finally convinced me (I actually found it in the buyer's guide, not bragging though:) I really wanted to buy one and surprise him for father's day but it was better this way so we could both go look at it and he could make sure he was getting what he wanted.  We're looking forward to trips to dryhead/pryor and some camping!!

Stetson had his kindergarten screening last week. ?! WHAT?  I love this boy like crazy and am a nervous nellie when I think about all these things coming up.  I try to focus on how fun and exciting school should be for him and try to not go too crazy (for Michael's sake mostly lol).  He's tired of listening to me rant and rave I'm sure.  He did awesome on his screening and the teacher said "he's more than ready!"  This particular teacher is also Carson's kindergarten teacher and the firs thing she said when she came back after the screening was how much Stetson reminded her of Carson.  Janelle had her 9 month check up and for some reason we didn't get percentiles, just stats, but I'll just say she is following in her sister's footsteps of being on the petite end of things.  Hopefully it will serve her well in the future~! :)  I read Hunger Games a while back and was pleasantly surprised when the movie came out and really wanted to see it..Michael had zero interest and its easier anyway if I just go alone so we don't have to worry about Janelle, so I went with dad, Brenda & Marguerite and I really liked it--it was really gruesome (obviously) but very well done and it was nice to go do something.  I have to  get to go to an in-service tomorrow in Cowley for more PTSB points to keep my teaching certificate current.  Later that night is the derby for our ward and Michael won't be home has to leave for work at 12 so he's watching the kids in the morning and EMily is in the afternoon. Its going to be a crazy crazy day.  Lastly, our Kandace's wildest dreams came true when she got asked to be a crown bearer for Jacob's jnr. prom.  Now she's telling everyone she's going to be in highschool.  Heaven help us all.

Sometimes Daniel likes to just break out in song..he's very musical like that.
Stetson helped me feed Janelle the other so I could have a free hand.  He is a great help.  He gave a talk in primary yesterday and read the whole thing by himself.  I was so proud of him.

Happy Easter

Am I the only one who feels like getting good pics on special holidays when everyone's outfits are matching and clean is like pretty much impossible? These are fun pics, but it'd be nice if they could just like, smile normal? lol
I feel like a broken record when I hear myself trying to teach the kids the real meaning of Easter--its hard to put the focus on Jesus Christ with all the other "stuff" to distract. We started our festivities with an easter egg hunt in Byron Saturday morning and then we went to Cody to look at a truck I read about in the paper. Michael's been wanting one forever. When we got home we headed to Asay's to help with cows for a bit, then I went early to stake conference because I was singing in the choir. Jacob was awesome and watched our kids. I also appreciate Michael for being such a good sport. Saturday conference is always the best for me for some reason. I haven't figured it out yet, but I always feel such a strong spirit Saturday night and this time was no exception. I am so grateful for the peace and HOPE the gospel brings and for a fresh start every day. I hope I can eventually get it right and try harder to be better. I was excited to find these matching dresses at Target this year. It does my heart good to dress 2 little girls in matching dresses. I am so lucky. We kind of farmed the kids out on Sunday. Todd & Emily took Stetson, Jan had Kandace and Michael had Janelle. I am selfish and sing in the choir even though I should probably sit with my kids. I just love it so much and need that uplifting feeling I have when I sing about the Savior. I love him and am grateful for the resurrection and the chance I have to be with my sweet family forever.

my helper

I learned something today. I've always thought it was funny how my kids like to be wherever I am. When Stetson was 1, he would come stack blocks in the bathroom while I was taking a shower. If I'm watching TV in my room, I know there's going to be piles of legos and books on my bed becasue that's where they want to be. Today was no exception. I was feeling a little restless and stir crazy so I decided to do some deep cleaning in the kitchen. Cleaning is like exercise for me in that its an anti-depressant and helps my mood, SO, I start cleaning and Kandace appears and before I know it she wants to do what I'm doing. She ended up cleaning a lot of the stove today. There was water everywhere, but it was cute to watch her. This should teach me that my kids will always be watching me and patterning their lives to some degree after what they see me do.
The popsicle pic is from yesterday. We LOVE warm weather!

9 months

These posts are so cliche' and repetitive it seems like, but I can't help it. Our girl turns 9 months today! The most cliche' thing ever said on posts is "I can't believe how fast the time has gone by." But its exactly how I feel. It seems like 5 minutes ago that I was 2 days past my due date feeling like my hips would bust at any moment, feeling like I would be pregnant forever. Nonetheless, our angel has come and gotten to this age in the meantime. Janelle we love you! Janelle is so precious to everyone in our family. Stetson & Kandace never pass up an opportunity to give her a kiss or make her laugh, and they're (especially Stetson) very helpful in handing her toys and such when I'm busy cooking dinner or whatever. I can't get enough kisses from this girl. I love the way she smells, how she is so vocal (especially right when I get her from a nap). She loves to make all sorts of sounds, especially da da, ma ma, and ba ba. She isn't so keen on strangers or less familiar faces. She doesn't crawl yet, but sits up like a champ and reaches for things like crazy. Michael says she has monkey arms. Happy 9 month birthday beautiful girl!

How to close a gate

Who is this girl trying to close a gate? seriously?!
Michael gets jealous of me sometimes because I'm so much better at closing gates than him. I mean really, who is this girl trying to close the gate from the inside? And did her husband really have to come help her (after he took the pic of course) because she couldn't get the wire around the top? What a sissy. I would never do that. On this day we: went to check cows with Michael in the morning, came home for tacos and to get ready for mom & Stetson's dentist appointments. We found out that Stetson has 4 cavities. WHAT?!! I was pretty much depressed the rest of the day and felt that all my valiant efforts in sucessful dental hygeine were in vain. After some discussion with the dentist this morning and some others, I'm feeling less bad about it. After the dentist I helped some bears make pirate ships, went grocery shopping, had terrryaki chicken for dinner (Michael's request) and then played horseshoes in the park (mostly just Michael). Life is gooooood.
