Come Listen to Living Prophets

I was looking at a friend's blog and saw one of the many great short little videos that our church puts out (mormom messages). In just the short 4 minutes of watching it my whole attitude changed. I felt appreciated for the little things I've been trying to do and I felt the peace the gospel brings. I wish I was better about sharing the gospel. I think its neat how technology opens doors and makes it easy to share the gospel, so I thought I'd include this in my blog today.
I LOVE CONFERENCE. I am sort of selfish and wish I could lock my kids up in their rooms all day so I could actually listen to it (one year in Laramie I took off and watched it at the stake ceneter for one session). I feel peace when I listen to the messages, and I feel happy. I wish I could bottle it up and have it more accessible on my bad days.

conversation

We went to Stan & Jan's last night and so Kandace was talking about it today. She said "I love grandma asay."
me: and grandpa asay?
Kandace: Yeah
Kandace: and I like Jacob, and I like Jared.
me: Yeah but Jared's in Africa serving a mission, huh?
Kandace: Africa?? But that's where dinosaurs live!

words of wisdom

Do not trade your birthright as a mother for some bauble of
passing value… the baby you hold in your arms will grow quickly as the sunrise
and sunset of the rushing days.” Pres Hinckley

************
Michael worked a 12 hr shift today and so to help pass the time and take advantage of the beautiful sunshine we last minute loaded up the stroller and headed to the park. Stetson rode his bike and did awesome--he's getting much faster and I can hardly keep up sometimes.
So our trip to the park started out very pleasant but things went south shortly into our adventure. I did get some good pics of the kids right after we got there until Kandace peed her pants and I had no extra clothes. Sad face. I told her we could go home or she could stay and play with "pee pants." She chose the latter. They both had a good time but it was time to head home as Janelle was getting fussy and I needed to feed her. So I tell Stetson to take off while I get Kandace (bad idea). He's already a block ahead of me by the time I get Kandace next to me (all the while Janelle screaming in background). So I get my Kandace and make her walk so she doesn't get pee in on our stroller. We finally caught up to Stetson but I had to holler lots of times to get him to stop and wait for me before he crossed the street. So we cross, get like 1 block from our house and Kandace starts passing up Stetson which is making Stetson totally furious because he thinks he HAS to be in front (remember Janelle is screaming all this time). Kandace goes ahead anyway, so Stetson drops his bike in a mad rage and refuses to go the rest of the way home. I took Kandace home, ran back to get Setetson and carry the bike back (baby on hip) and got Stetson back to the house. I kept my cool but I was SO frustrated and I just hate moments like this where everything is going wrong. So yeah I'm a whiner but I guess its ok to remember moments like this and look back and realize how far you've come and maybe we'll laugh about this. I do however LOVE the quote that i included. I found it on a friend's blog who just had a baby. Its just what I needed to hear.

sunshine!

We are enjoying some nice weather here! It doesn't seem like a huge deal like last year since we've had such a mild winter but we sure enjoyed it today. The kids played on their bikes, hopscotch and I soaked up the sun watching them. Even Janelle enjoyed the sun.

par-TAY

Us Asays like to make up holidays for the special occasions in our life...like how Stan & Jan met 32 years ago yesterday. This was of course an occasion that had to be celebrated so celebrate we did! We had DELICIOUS shiskabobs with ALL sorts of delciousness. Salad, fruit salad, chips, dips, veggies, and this cake that was to die for. Mmmm. Thanks for meeting 32 years ago Stan & Jan! Sure are glad you met and had all those great boys of yours.

29 and lookin' fine

My darling turned 29 last weekend. To celebrate the occasion we went to the temple for a session with the Elder's quorm in our ward. Michael is 1st counselor right now. After our session the Elder's quorm treated us to Golden Coral then we went to our hotel where little Janelley cried weeell into the night, but we love her anyway.
The next morning Joel & Kambrie treated us to breakfast and then we did some shopping and came home. The only thing Michael wanted for his birthday was to be done shopping. ha ha. So we kept it nice and short so we could return home to our little babies who got to stay the night at gma & gpa Asays. Stetson & Kandace had a ball. Kandace had been asking to stay the night at gmas for a while.
That evening we had angel food cake with strawberries and whipped cream with the whole fam.
My favorite things about Michael at 29:
.:.:.:.:.:.:he works so very hard for our family (nights, weekends, sometimes not getting home 'til 4 am)
.:.:.:.:.:.:I love watching him with Janelle. He kisses her cheek EVERY time he picks her up..I've never seen him not do it. Someone who saw us with our kids in public commented on how good Michael was with the baby and I just thought how normal it was to me and I guess I take it for granted that he takes such good care of our babies. He usually has Janelle the majority of church so I can do my calling.
.:.:.:.:.:.:Michael has never lost his cool with his kids. Sometimes we don't see eye to eye on discipline and such, but I really don't care that much because I know I can trust him where it truly counts.
.:.:.:.:.:.:Michael is a great listener. In fact it was just today that I called him at work because I was really upset about some drama in my life and I jabbered for like a 1/2 hour and he never complained and just listened. Sounds like I got the better end of this deal. :)
Happy 29th birthday Michael!

a tagging we will go

A little while back we got the chance to go to the farm and do some tagging! Michael loves to help when he can and we like to come along for the ride. (Michael even lets me put the numbers on the tags and be his little assistant). I messed up my first tag this last time when the ink came out too fast and got everywhere. Whoops. Michael assured me the farm wouldn't go under because of my mishap.

We are loving the springish weather. I especially am anxious for green grass and flowers again...not so anxious about watering the backyard though. That was fun the first summer we lived here but since then we've wished for an underground sprinking system.

Michael's birthday is this weekend and we're excited to go celebrate with a night in Billings including a temple trip and whatever other fun we pack in.
