first water fight of the year

Yesterday when Michael was working in the garden, we thought it'd be a great idea to have the kids get their suits on and play with the hoses.  Stetson usually says he doesn't want to, but leave it to Michael to make him put his suit on and throw him in the sprinklers. :)  Stetson ended up having a blast and actually had his suit on by 9am this morning ready for round 2.  Michael used his super manly strength to hose me down a couple times and the crazy woman in my came out and I got him back...sort of.  Luckily he tripped when he was running away and I got an extra advantage until he got up off the ground.  Stetson took a picture of us all soaking wet but I'm not really wanting to post that. lol :)  yay for summer!!  This is my favorite season and I savor all of it--I never really look forward to fall even though I love it when its here.

Stetson's 1st t-ball game

And so it begins--since Stetson is starting kindergarten this year we are starting the beginning of many summer leagues, sports camps, school concerts, all of it.  I don't know if I'm ready for it!  This pic is my favorite of our first t-ball game ever...I was sort of a nervous nellie when he was up to bat and running to the bases because he's not sure where he's going and he likes to take his bat along with him to 1st base...at least to about half way there.  By the third inning he was finally getting the hang of it.  He's pretty timid when he's at bat and when he runs..probably just not sure about all of this.  Oh well, he sure is fun to watch.  Go Stetson & Carson!!

Thankful post

I most definitely need to be more grateful for what I have instead of complaining about the things I don't have, and I need to be grateful for things going great in my life, so here is my grateful list for May 18, 2012.  I am thankful for:

*3 beautiful healthly children.
*a hardworking husband who comes home every day with arms outstretched for a hug and kiss and who is still crazy about me (or at least acts like he is)
*really good health that allows me to clean my house, play with my kids, play basketball and do lots of other things
*a great ward who serves me and blesses me by example
*a home
*my husband's employment
*great doctors, immunizations, etc.
*my dishwasher
*my washer & dryer
*my understanding and testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ
*the gift of prayer; knowing I can pray to my Heavenly Father whenver and for as long as I want
*air conditioning
*lysol wipes ha ha

Well I feel better.  I do have a lot to be thankful for and a grateful heart is a happy heart.

moving cows

Yesterday the boys moved the cows from the May farm to the corals at Michael's parents' house.  The moms and kids got to bring up the rear in the suburban/Jimmy so the kids could take turns having rides on the horses and so we could give out drinks when needed.  Janelle slept almost the entire time and the kids loved riding the horse and being outside.  Stan's brothers and brother in-aw (Gaylen, Clark & Max) were here visiting so they got to help, too.  When we got home we had hamburgers, hotdogs, chips, beans and pop.  It was a great day.

Did I seriously just cry at my 5 year old's preschool graduation?? yes, yes I did.

Today my boy graduated from the VIP preschool in Lovell!  I wasn't expecting to get emotional in the least bit until I walked into the building and saw one of Stetson's sweet teachers handing out programs.  After I got done talking to one of the teachers who is leaving this year, I got really teary and Michael looked at me and said, "are you seriously crying?"  Poor guy, to have such a bawl baby for a wife.  :)  Stetson's teachers at VIP are simply wonderful.  They always make us feel like we are so special, even though Stetson is just one of many that attended VIP this year (there's 3 classes).  The teachers had prepared a scrapbook for each student including pictures throughout the year and funny "surveys" that the kids filled out.  One survey asked the student their favorite senses and they asked what he loves to see and my heart melted when I read "my mom."  One of my favorites though was "My Feelings" survey: I am MAD when: "well..I got mad when daddy said I threw a fit!"--Stetson.  One survey asked his favorite kind of meat, and in true Asay fashion, he answered: "Grandma Asay's"--Stetson  The whole scrapbook was so awesome to look at, including pics of the MANY fun things they did and saw like trips to the red apple, the fire station, a farm, and lots more.  We were glad that gpa Simmons, gma Asay, Charlene, Ian, Michael, Kandace & Janelle could come.  Stetson you are so very special to us.  We love you and happy graduation from VIP!

Kandace goes to prom

Last night was the big night!  The kids drove me crazy all day becasuse I was trying to make a rag quilt and be mom while Michael was gone at work but the day ended great.  Kandace went to get her hair done by aunt Kasi at 8:15, we went to the Hyart (where Kandace asked "mom are we going to the movies?") took lots of pictures and then Jan took Trav & Kandace to backstage while Jill & I got to enjoy the grand march kid free.  Sweet!  It was fun to watch at the Hyart because it was easier to see everyone and the seats were comfy!  After the grand march, last year's royalty brought the crown bearers out and Kandace and Travis looked just dashing in their matching attire (the cutest part I thought).  They let the girl crown bearers wear the crowns that would be given to the royalty and I knew Kandace was in heaven.  When they took her crown off her head to give it to the royalty I'm pretty sure I heard her say "my crown!"  She had a mini melt down afterwards because I think she thought she was actually going to the dance part of prom, which was held at the community center after all the hyart hoopla.   We are glad Kandace has such an awesome uncle Jacob to let her be crown bearer!
