Monky see, monkey do...

So I was sitting in our chair today and looked up to find Stetson "clipping his toe nails." He'd found his baby clippers and went to town. It was so cute. Its funny how kids really do pick up on what we adults do, and then try it themselves.

We're excited that Michael's mom and grandma are coming today--after they stay with us for a night, they're going to McCook to see Christian & Jill. So I've been doing a little cleaning, I still need to wash some windows and probably pull some weeds in our "backyard." :) The weather is nice today, so we went to Washington park where Stetson and Michael played, and I took a run. There were a bunch of older men there running and I thought maybe they were doing some sort of charity run or something like that, and Michael said he thinks they're all in a "marathon training" class together. They run like twice a week and gradually improve their distance/time over like a 5 week period. I just have to say, I did run a couple 5k's, but a marathon is just beyond me. I think its great to work hard towards something and conquer great things, but for now I'm sticking to conquering weeds and dirty windows. :)

Memorial day weekend/random pictures

When we got our new couch
Kasi came over to cut Michael's hair before we got familhy pics. THANKS KASI!!

Springtime in Laramie :)
Well we just got back from an awesome weekend home. We couldn't leave until Friday at 4 so we pulled into the Asay's at about 10:45 pm. It rained most of Saturday, but we enjoyed ourselves inside just visiting and eating cinnamon rolls. :) Sunday we went to church with Asays then to my dads for his famous spaghetti and a serious round of "nertz." Remember how bad I was at that in college, Shay?? Well it was way fun, PLUS, Morgan and Fallon got to come for the weekend too, so it was fun to see them since I hadn't seen them since their wedding in Jan.) Monday morning, Stetson and I headed to the cemetary in Cowley for the program, then had lunch with Asay's and headed back to Laramie. It rained practically the WHOLE way home, but Stetson was AWESOME. He's never done so great in the car. My mom got us this leap frog thing that he played with like the whole time. Well I forgot my camera card at home and didn't get any pics, but I posted some old ones for your viewing pleasure. :)

Ever had one of those days?

First things first, this is not puke, its soup. So I've had a pretty bummer day. It all started at 6 am when I got a call to sub at Slade Elementary. No biggie, since Michael didn't have a field trip that day, he could watch Stetson. So I get there and things are going great--good lesson plans, good kids, yada yada yada. Well then the drama began. After lunch, it started raining, then it started hailing, then the town sirens went off because we were under alert for tornado warnings. So the principal came in over the loud speaker ordering us to take our classes out to the halls until the warning was lifted. Well after what seemed like forEVER, the warning lifted and we went back into the classroom. Principal comes in over the loud speaker again, "everyone please take your classes to the hall." So this was before 1 pm. Well long story short, I was stuck there until about 4 pm. No fun. I usually get home around 3, when Jeffi (our awesome friend who watches Stetson during the window Michael takes kids home after school) was expecting me. And not to mention, during all the craziness, I was unsure what was going on and starting to worry about Stetson and Michael. Anyway, fortunately for cell phones, I got a hold of Micahel & Jeffi and found out all was well, even though apparently there were multiple torando sitings in Laramie and surrounding areas, and one went through the jnr. high football field and totally took out a shed. Yikes.

Well I got home and was wanting to get busy fixing the meal for our friends we'd planned bring them tonight (they're expecting a baby and she just found out she had to be on "modified" bed-rest- yuck) BUT the power was out, so I tried to clean until the power came back on. Finally it came back on and I started cooking like a mad woman. About 2 hours later, we were finally ready to take everything over (a 1/2 hr late). Well my dear sweet husband who takes the brunt of my frustrations slipped on the snow when he was putting the hamburger soup in the car and that explains the picture. SO, he goes back in, puts more soup from the pot into the bowl and we head over to deliver the meal.

Anyway, just had to vent, I feel a little better now.

Mother's Day

I became a mother on December 17th, 2006. My immediate feelings were of elation, excitement and joy. Then (and I wonder if other mothers can relate…I hope so) reality hit like a freight train. I was rocking Stetson the 1st or 2nd night in the hospital, and it hit me that I was totally responsible for this precious baby that I loved so much it hurt…and all the sudden my mind fast forwarded to parts of his life and I worried about challenges he would have to face (everyone has challenges, its part of life) and I wondered if I could ever deal with my son having to suffer.

ANYWAY, I could go on and on. Life eventually reached a normalcy, but obviously it never went back to how it was before. I would never have it any other way, but motherhood is hard work. I never dreamed being a mother was so much work. The responsibilities are literally endless, depending on the kind of mother you want to be.

This is an experpt from a journal entry I wanted to share. I am grateful for the moms in my life, especially for my own and Michael's. I think moms are INCREDIBLE. Really, I don't think there's a word good enough to describe it. I hope all you moms have a great mother's day today and realize not only today, but every day how amazing you are and what you contribute to your family and the world.

"Making the decision to have a child-it's momentous. It is to decide forever to have your heart go walking around outside your body." --->This quote totally sums up my feelings about motherhood.

family pictures

Its a miracle that Stetson was still long enough to take these pictures--he was all OVER the place in that studio. Too many things to see, climb onto, touch, etc.

This is the one we ordered--We were hoping Stetson would look a little happier in this one, but we'll take it. :)
I had an awesome bday--thanks to everyone who made it special for me. Michael sarinaded me this morning with the happy birthday song in 15 different keys, not on purpose, just because he can't carry a tune in a bucket, but thats why I love him so much, then dad called, then travy (my nephew) called with my 2nd bday song (nice singing Mike, Rachel & Trav and whoever else was in the car), then todd called, then shay, then Morgy (he sang my 3rd bday song) then off to Cheyanne for family pics then Olive Garden (Jan called while we were in Cheyanne). We SPLURGED at Olive Garden--we got an appetizer, our regular meals AND dessert (gelato chocolate icecream with chunks of chocolate and caramel). Yikes And my mom called a little bit ago and reminded me that I was her favorite mother's day present (Todd is a close second) JK!!!!! I have to say though, what made my birthday really special was spending the day with the ones I love (Michael and Stetson). I am one lucky chick to have such a good husband and beautiful baby boy.

25 years ago today...

...my big brother, Todd had his last birthday, because he was born on May 8th too, and after I came along, word has it that he didn't get much of a birthday. I remember one year for my birthday my parents let me invite pretty much everyone I knew to Mayette Swim center (swimming pool in Santa Rosa) and looking back years later, I wonder, where was Todd? Did he have his own bday bash that night? We joke now that Todd never had a birthday once I came along. Anyway, luckily he's in Cowley today and I'm hundreds of miles away in Laramie, where I can't steal his thunder. :) ***DISCLAIMER*****Dad wanted me to be sure to include the fact that he didn't LET me invite everyone I knew, I just did w/out their permission and it was too late once they all showed up! Whoops

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TODD!!!!! The greatest thing about sharing a bday with you, is I'll always be turning a smaller number than you!

Shout out to Syesha

I got my hair cut today. I was planning on just getting a trim and some "swoopy" bangs (only girls who read this will know what that means) but the lady talked me into doing something a little more drastic (she said it would look great on my face shape and would look "striking"--we'll see about that). Its pretty short now. She called it a "bob stack" so its longer in the front and then a-line to the back. I'll post some pics of it tomorrow maybe.

And I just have to get one more thing out--I am SOOOOOOOOOO glad that Syesha is the last girl left on American Idol. I didn't get to see her sing tonight because I was at the half acre (thats the gym in Laramie for my non-Laramie friends). I was always disappointed when she was in the bottom 3 all those times, because I think she's a better vocalist by FAR than Brooke White, not Carly, she's pretty good, but I always thought Syesha was top knotch. AND, why is everyone so ga ga goo over Archuleta? He can sing for sure, but he's not that amazing. O.K. That's all. Oh, and why is it that Syesha's hair looks like she stuck her finger in a light socket but she looks drop-dead gorgeous?

Where's Stetson?

So Michael was "watching" Stetson out in the lobby today during Sunday School when suddenly he realized that he didn't know where Stetson was. So him and his buddy (who was also helping "watch" Stetson) went searching. After a few minutes, they realized that Stetson was in the chapel where another Sacrament meeting was being held, playing the piano during the opening hymn. Luckily it was during the opening hymn and not a prayer or something. Maybe I'll watch Stetson next Sunday.

Stir crazy

I was on the computer today and when I looked up, Stetson had put both his feet in this yellow bucket at the same time. It's snowing right now, and I'd guess its in the 20's. Every time its snowed these last few weeks, I've seriously though, "o.k. this HAS to be it." It just CAN'T snow again, I mean it is MAY after all.

Michael just got his CDL and is going to drive bus until we go to Indianapolis

This is the lovely weather we're enjoying today in Laramie
